The local farmers’ market (Tuesdays and Fridays) in Via Carducci (20 mins walk) is the place to go to pick up the best ingredients if you want to cook at home. The city hosts many festivals throughout the year, including the “Luganomusica” festival every summer. MASI (the Museum of Art of Italian Switzerland) (a 20-minute walk) hosts regular contemporary art exhibitions. A day trip exploring the Lago Lugano is a must, as is a walk along Lugano’s famous waterfront, with breathtaking views over the lake. For a more active break, there are regular mountain running races throughout the year as part of the Ticino Mountain Running Cup.
